San Juan Islands Sunset Sketch
Painted plein air facing west on Center Island, a small island in the lower San Juans. The evening was particularly still and the slightest bird landing on the water was enough to make a significant sound. I didn’t have any water to mix with my watercolors, and it was too cold out to get some from the bay, so I decided to use some of the Raineer Beer we had brought along on our hike instead. For this reason, I plan on calling these the San Juan Sunset Beer Paintings. More will follow next time I go to Center Island. (pictured: watercolor on paper 8 by 12 in)
